![]() I see an OEM spare for sale on my local Craigslist right now (Seattle), which obviously doesn't help you, but point being these things pop up somewhat regularly so keep checking around. And obviously no bombing down the interstate at 80 for extended distances on the spare! Keep in mind too you could get 20" OEM wheels on the F15 w/o getting the M Sport package. ![]() ![]() If you stick with the OEM spare size you should be just fine, it's meant to work with all F15/F16 applications regardless of packages and tire sizes (which spanned 18"-21" in OEM sizes for this platform). Beers/lunch on me, if you're ever in my area! Worried about messing up the transfer case with the wrong size spare tire.īut thanks for all your excellent advice and help with my posts. Wanted to make sure the delta wasn't off too much. I think what I meant is the overall diameter of the 20" Msport wheel package compared to the size of the spare 18". I've done a lot of searches on this forum and haven't found clear answers.Īnd yes Msport is just cosmetic package, I understand. I don't trust a lot of local mechanics and wheel shops who have steered me wrong in the past. Not sure what you're asking? Like what will work best, other an OEM?Īnd not sure what M Sport has to do with this, that's a cosmetic package, it has nothing to do with spare tire sizes. I assume I will have some additional storage space under the cargo area where the spare would be, when I don't have the spare in the car.You certainly have a lot of questions about tires/wheels! Honestly most of your questions could very easily be answered if you just did a quick Google search, or forum search. My plan is to keep the spare in the garage most of the time, except on a trip. I ordered the run flats and the spare tire because we take a few long trips every year and a flat runflat is only good for 50 miles. My dealer is putting my X4 order through in the next few days. Only time will tell whether I'll miss those couple of inches, but it does further compromise the cargo area. Complete Compact Spare Tire kit Without Carrying Case - Fits 2019-2024 BMW X5 (G05) All Except Models with M-Sport or M-Performance Brakes - Modern Spare 4.6 out of 5 stars 3 429.95 429. What I suggest is getting a kit such as the M Mobility kit (found HERE) or going a head and getting the BMW Emergency Wheel and having their local tire shop put a narrow tire on it. The X4's cargo area is already smaller than the X3's and the space saver takes up a bit more of that room. But I'm not sure it was the right decision. The photos in configurator have never shown the raised trunk, so I don't think that would prove anything either way. But it would require engineering effort so I suspect not. Hopefully that makes sense.ītw, I just got my X4 with 21" run-flats that I'll probably switch out to non-run-flats at some point. 2021 BMW X3 M40i 0.00 Yes, this the improvement they should really have been making for 2022 instead of random cosmetic changes. So if you're looking at an X4 on your dealer's lot without a spare, imagine the floor lifted up two or three inches to just below the load lip. Most complain about tyre gloop being messy. On my E92, I added the continental tyre repair kit - lighter and cheaper than a space saver. In an X4 with a spare, the cargo area floor is lifted to just a smidge below the loading lip (in the X3, it's well above the lip). You need to ensure the rolling radius is the same as your tyres so here are you options: Works out cheaper in some cases than buying OEM. But in both cases, it does take away space from the cargo area. the difference is that the space saver cost 150 if ordering 20/21' wheels but included at no add'l cost when ordering 22' wheels. 20/21' were RFTs while the 22' were non RFT. i was able to configure 20/21/22' wheels on a 40i in both xLine and M Sport, and the space saver spare was shown in the Options tab. ![]() I'm thinking you're confused because the space saver spare takes up less space in the X4 than it does in the X3. ordering your vehicle with RFT doesn't prevent from optioning the space saver spare. ![]() I was under the impression that the Space-saver spare option will gain more space in the trunk since the floor is lower than without the option. ![]()
